Busy Holiday Season

Hello, been a little bit. This week I was told that my Gail's logo that I posted last may actually be used as their main logo after a couple changes. Neat! I was also able to pose and put a flat color pass on the Female ranger. I am hoping to be done with her textures by New Years so that I can move on to more projects. Getting into textures with this one will be interesting since I'm going for a more realistic look as the end product. At least at this phase I can get a better Idea of what color scheme to go with.

Until next time, here are some work in progress shots.

Mother's Request

Hello, it has been a very busy few weeks but good things have been happening and I was able to get a rough done that my mother requested. Really needs some more attention to the hands and tray. She did say she wanted something simple and not even finished and I have realized that I can't leave things unfinished so this will be done by the end of the week. YAY.

I became an official member of CONcom on monday :D and will be working with the artists there to make cool CON art. I must admit I am VERY excited for it, I can't wait for my first assignment. Unfortunately you won't get to see anything until after CON, can't be spoiling the fun by letting you see things early :P. Since I'll be practicing drawing Connie I can post those but no more.

Battle box took a backseat these two weeks due to busyness but expect more updates this weekend!

More BattleBox!!!

Did some texture and sculpting work for Battle Box 3D today. I completely redid the shirt sculpt from last time, mainly since I had a new idea of how to do it. So far I'm liking it much more than the first attempt. Next I'll just need to figure out how to get this to work with the over all model. I'll be sculpting the cloak next.

Not much to look at yet. Just started painting and getting an over all feel for her UV layout. Her face was the most satisfying for me to see today, one can only get so far with details in just the mesh. I'll be adding stitches, textures (like cloth weaves or leather), and other details as I go along. This is the part that really rocks because the character is starting to come together!
Also don't forget to check out Battle Box and like it on Facebook!

In other news, the game I've been working on, Banonkey Town, is getting cooler and cooler as we add polish to the levels, puzzles and fights. Its really turning into a project worth doing. Please donate to help make this game the best it can be!

Sculptris update

Here's the back of her shirt. I am just now getting used to Sculptris and haven't found out how to export this as a normal map yet, but I'll figure that out this week. I tried to get the pants done tonight as well, but I'm having trouble since her crotch keeps looking inflamed instead of slightly wrinkled pants. We just can't have that.

The game I'm working on!

Hello! I work on a team called Troop 13 and we have a game on Kickstarter :D. We've come so far we just need a little help to finish this awesome game.
Take a look and back us! You'll get cool things made by us if you do.

Finished Connie!

Hello, I finished my Connie final drawing today. I plan on drawing her a lot more as well, I don't think I quite have her down yet.

As for my Battle Box ranger, she's unwrapped and ready for some sculpting and texturing! I don't have a picture to put up today since unwrapping doesn't really change the mesh any, its a lot of work and not really much to show for it yet, that will come tomorrow!

Daily Doodle and Ranger update

CONvergence is wanting artists to send in Connie drawings to pick out artists for T-shirt designs. I did a practice page so I could have a nice finished version to send in. She is definitely not something I'm used to drawing since I'm more of a fantasy artist, but expanding skills is not a bad thing :D. So far I'm noticing that I'm drawing tiny hands and making her head not big enough, I'll have to fix that for my final designs.
I started redoing her hair with a different technique, I'm liking it better. She is rigged but her accessories are not. I think when I edited her arms I made them too small.... that won't do, her fingers need a little work as well. Her accessories are half way done (barring edits). Things are looking good for this week though, I'm off Friday from work this week so I'll be getting a lot done on this.

Daily doodle and 3D update

I was looking at my old Devient art and saw an NPC fighter I had drawn for the first campaign I ever DM'd.... well it was so bad I redrew it to make myself feel better. She looks much better these days, it's really cool to see proof of ones talent getting better :D.
Currently adding accessories to my 3D model for the table top. She's looking pretty rough right now, but once she's posed and sculpted she'll rock. All modeling should be done by the end of the week, then its all sculpting and posing over the weekend! Yay!

Daily Doodle

Hello! I was doodling different accessories to model for the ranger such as armor and different weapons. Hopefully I can get back into a doodle a day, I'm thinking of trying to fill a page a day of practice drawings to keep the muscles warmed up. Tomorrow I'll have some modeled accessories! I've already put a simple rig on the character to see how she moves. I think I'll give her a more complex rig (not much more) just to get some more variation in her poses.

Modeling in Blender

Hello! I've been working in Blender since Thursday last week. I'm using the Ranger that I drew earlier (you can find her in previous posts). She's very rough right now, but my intention is to have a fairly detailed and rigged prototype for the virtual table top. I need to also model accessories that can be interchanged, OOOO this is exciting.

Daily Doodle

Drew a Female Human Bard today. Jesse and I started watching American Horror Story Asylum tonight to start kicking off the Halloween feel, so far VERY creepy.

Back to Fantasy

Woo! Back to the daily doodle from the very hellish week of work last week. I'm hoping to have a few sketches a day until I start working in Blender with the first model prototype for the virtual Table Top. I feel a bit rusty, but this daily routine will kick me back into shape I hope. I've noticed hands especially are atrocious!

In other news, JourneyQuest ended season 2 last week. The story just keeps getting better and better as well as their costuming, CG and acting. This makes me so giddy that they are coming so far. I hope one day I can implement their characters into the table top, but that is for after I successfully get some generic models up and running.
I did some prep sketches to get a better feel for my ranger for her to be my prototype. I want her to have 3 poses and changes of color and items she carries. We'll see how that goes and I'll update my progress daily if I can.

Layers of doodles

I decided to work on one drawing today and post the layers that I used. Just a generic female ranger today. I had a talk with my coworker about the table top and I have an assignment :D. I'm going to be sketching up some generic human characters to model later, but right now we want a look. Mara will be in on this too as soon as I remember to tell her about it.
I may not have an update next week, huge deadline at work and its looking like every night will be a late night, but only for one week. I may have a sketch or two to post, but due to the sheer workload I must accomplish in 5 days... not very likely.

Rusty drawings and Dungeons and Dragons Fun

It's strange, at work it feels like I can create on demand but at home I'm having trouble getting back into my own workflow. This blog should keep me up and on task. I finally have something show worthy today and its really just some rough sketches. Still progress!
On another note, if you haven't seen Journey Quest yet you are missing a LOT! Especially if you like Dungeons and Dragons, this is the same group that brought us Dorkness Rising which was also very entertaining. Here's the first episode, Enjoy :D.

Also, speaking of Dungeons and Dragons, some Coworkers of mine are making a 3D tabletop! They have asked me and Mara to model them up some environments and characters to pretty the software up so I'm super excited for it. Here's their teaser, its a little dated since they've added a few things since this, I foresee good things.

New devices and new motivations

This is one of the main characters for my comic that has been in the works for almost a decade. Now that I'm no longer a student I really need to get in gear and make this a reality. Currently I'm working on style, color and clothing.
I also recently purchased a Samsung Series 7 so now I definitely have no excuse but to keep up with my Daily Doodle that I will be posting. These top two and bottom two drawings are practices with the brushes. I am feeling a bit rusty, but not for long!!!
I played Portal 1 and 2 last month.... I highly recommend it, puzzles and such witty humor. It's a shame it's so short though. I also played Psychonauts which is one of the best games I have ever played EVER. Double Fine is also making another game so I'm excited!
One of my D&D groups are so story oriented that two of our PC's got married and had triplets. My boyfriend was one of the PCs so it was strictly in game. Still, oh the memories. I intend to paint this when I get the time. I find that I can sketch forever but I really need to paint more. Jesse and I are also Co DMing a campaign that will begin again in November. I'll update on that story as well.

Been a while

Hello, so it's been over a year! Not to worry though, I've got tons of personal projects to update as well as a game coming out soon :D. To see the final product of my student work please visit my website. This week I'm going to start a daily doodle (first daily doodle tonight of course) as well as concept art for my comic book I've been working on since 2003. First official doodle in a couple hours ^-^
